Tim’s Volunteer Story

Volunteering – Can you, as an individual, group or company, help?

NOAH is reliant upon the continued support of our fantastic volunteers. We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities, one or more of which might appeal to you. For many of our volunteering roles, no previous experience is required but full training is provided in any event.

In return for your generous commitment to us you will have the great satisfaction of knowing that what you are doing is making a difference for good to the lives of so many who are in abject poverty. You will meet people from different backgrounds, develop skills and enjoy a welcoming and social team.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Academy Assistant – helping the NOAH Academy with their Job Club services and supporting classes.
Administration / Reception – assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry and emails. In Reception you will be the main point of contact to greet and assist service users and visitors.
Ambassador – promote NOAH and raise awareness of the work the charity does, engaging potential partners, supporters or donors, and to represent the charity to the media, forums and events.
Befriender – engaging with our service users in conversation, listening to their issues, providing friendship, engaging them in recreational activities.
Cleaner – ensuring that the NOAH sites are cleaned to a good standard and presentable for when staff, visitors and service users arrive.

Community Fundraiser – helping to raise funds from the local community and to promote the work of NOAH to local groups and organisations.

Handy Person / Maintenance – helping to ensure that NOAH sites are kept in a good condition.

Kitchen Assistant – assisting in our kitchen to support our chef in providing meals.

Marketing Assistant – to help raise the profile of NOAH throughout Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Outreach – accompanying our outreach workers as they engage with homeless people on the streets.

Placement Counsellor – providing one-to-one counselling to NOAH clients. Please note this this role is for LST students only.

Stock / Warehouse Assistant – supporting the daily running of the Store Support Centre with donations, or supporting Welfare Centre staff to keep their stock rooms organised.

Store Assistant – supporting the Store Manager with the day to day running of our charity stores.

Training & Development Assistant – helping the NOAH team with training administration and supporting classes.

Van Driver / Van Driver’s Assistant – ensuring that donated items are collected across the local area and distributed to the Store Support Centre, stores, and our Welfare Centre.

Volunteer Co-Ordinator – organising NOAHS community of volunteers

Welfare Centre Support Assistant – assisting the Welfare Project Workers in providing services for the service users that come to the Welfare Centre.

Corporate Volunteering

There is every opportunity for companies to exercise their corporate social responsibility by engaging with NOAH. What you do will make a real impact for good on the lives of people with so little, people who are homeless, live on the streets or are at risk of doing so.

In return you get great team-building opportunities, staff are motivated because of the company’s preparedness to something so altruistic for the benefit of others and you have a positive association and relationship with a highly regarded local charity.
