In Jessica’s own words:

Describe the barriers that you faced prior to coming to NOAH

Apart from the obvious physical barriers which go with being a wheelchair user, such as lack of mobility, I had also been experiencing particularly low mood & was referred here by my G.P.

Describe what you liked the most about the course with NOAH

Immediately what struck me was how kind everyone was. Attending was daunting, but everyone has been helpful from getting drinks, helping with access and helping with signing in & out.

Describe how the course and how NOAH has helped you to achieve your goals.

Just the fact of getting out of the house for a purpose has worked wonders. A massive bonus is that other learners within the class have different challenges which I feel I have been able to help them with. A great boost to my self esteem.

How has the course improved your confidence, self-esteem and motivation?

Another learner on the course is currently also doing an English course and I help her if she doesn’t understand something the tutor has said.

Describe what your plans are for the future?

I never know but hoping to get my book published, which is a challenge in itself.

Through our talented and dedicated staff and volunteers, NOAH have the privilege of working with a great many inspiring people, and you’ll see some of their stories within this Strategic Plan. None of this work would be possible without the support of our community, our partners, and our funders – a huge thank you to each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts, for affording NOAH the privilege of doing the work that we do.
