Emergency Winter
Night Shelter

For over a decade we have opened the winter shelter in Luton to provide a warm, dry, safe place to sleep when the temperature falls to zero or below at night. We employ one member of staff who is supported by dedicated volunteers from around Luton. We do this in partnership with local community venues.

The project provides a lifeline for rough sleepers in the town and a chance for us to encourage them to come to the Centre so that we can start to help them move away from the streets.

Last Year’s Emergency Winter Shelter Report- 2025

We currently partner with local community venues to provide a warm space and somewhere to sleep during the cold winter months. We also offer a cool, place during the summer when temperatures are high.

Typically, 5 – 10 people who are homeless will stay on any one night. Last year, in total, we helped 163 People. It is one of our best opportunities to start to break the cycle of homelessness for those who have experienced this repeatedly and offer basic help like health care and hot nutritious food.

Many people we support have been through very difficult experiences, including complex trauma at different points in their lives. This can make the journey out of homelessness far more challenging than it might appear, and for some, it can also be linked to struggles with addiction.

At NOAH, we stay alongside people for as long as it takes. Seeing someone return years later, doing better, just to say thank you, is one of the most moving reminders of why this work matters,  it lifts all of us.
