CEO Sleepout 2024: A Night to Remember at Kenilworth Road
On a frosty evening on Thursday, 28th November 2024, the floodlights at Luton Town FC’s Kenilworth Road Stadium lit up more than just the pitch. Over 40 business leaders and community figures came together for the CEOSleepout, raising an incredible £50,000 to support NOAH’s mission to tackle homelessness across Bedfordshire. Among the notable attendees were Gary Sweet, CEO of Luton Town FC, Deputy Mayor Councillor Babatunde Ajisola, and representatives from NOAH itself, including Nigel Spencer, Dave Buttress, and Jo Anderson, who all took part in the Sleepout.
This event was more than just a fundraiser—it was a moment of reflection and solidarity. Participants were invited to experience, even briefly, a small part of what life is like for those forced to sleep rough. While the environment was safe and controlled, the biting cold and hard ground served as a stark reminder of the daily challenges faced by so many. Events like the CEO Sleepout are essential not only for raising funds but also for fostering empathy and understanding, highlighting the urgent need for change. The night featured powerful speeches from Nigel Spencer and Dave Buttress, whose words reflected the heart of NOAH’s mission. They spoke passionately about the importance of events like these, sharing insights into the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and the critical role NOAH plays in offering hope and support. Their heartfelt messages inspired participants and underscored the significance of taking collective action.
The collective effort raised over £50,000, which will directly support the charities essential work. These funds will enable NOAH to continue providing important services, from emergency support to pathways for training, employment, and housing, giving people the tools they need to rebuild their lives.
The night ended with participants leaving with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the realities of homelessness. The speeches, shared experiences, and collective determination left a lasting impression, proving that events like these can truly make a difference.
