Part Time Furniture Retail Sales Assistant

Location of role: Luton

Salary: £8.45 p/h – Living wage

Description of role and person:

We are seeking a Retail Sales Assistant to work in our retail shop environment to maximise sales of a diverse range of furniture, household goods, clothing and bric-a-brac, and other products, to achieve targets, and maintain standards.  You may be required to work in different local stores as required

You will be working 16 hrs spread over Monday to Saturday 7.5 hours per day

Role

  • Engage with customers in a welcoming, courteous and friendly manner seeking to constructively meet their needs
  • Attain a product knowledge to enable management of product ranges
  • Engage with the local community, identifying local stakeholders and establishing working links while raising the profile of our client
  • Assist in recruitment and training of new volunteers and work placements
  • Help maintain the volunteer rota ensuring optimum cover
  • Assist management of volunteers by providing direction and training
  • Help provide motivation to ensure volunteers are happy, committed and fulfilled
  • Take responsibility for own personal development
  • Maintain stock quality standards by ensuring all goods are steam cleaned and presented in a clean and appealing fashion and follow stock pricing policy
  • Ensure stock rotation; assist in maintaining stock levels and standards of display
  • Assist in the control and security of all bought-in merchandise
  • Assist in maximising turnover; growing sales by an agreed annual target
  • Ensure cleanliness and order are maintained by ensuring a comprehensive cleaning schedule is followed by volunteers and staff
  • Understand and assist in the profitability of the shop and controllable costs.
  • Ensure maintenance of gift aid procedures and train volunteers
  • Ensure that the building and all operations within it comply with H&S Regulations
  • You will need to be available to work at other retail outlets e.g., holiday cover
  • Opening and lock-up as required

  • Organised and reliable
