Location of role: Luton
Are you a multi-skilled/DIY teacher with a passion to help others?
We are looking for a new trainer to teach our ‘Home Maintenance’ course one day a week from our fully equipped workshops.
This unique programme teaches learners the basic skills that they would need to maintain and improve their home – such as simple plastering repairs, painting, carpentry, and plumbing techniques.
The course is aimed at ‘complete beginners’ and is a leisure learning programme designed to help learners to grow in confidence and independence. Learners come from a variety of backgrounds and may have struggled with homelessness, low self-esteem, mental health problems or addiction.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong affinity with our core values of care, compassion and commitment, and must have an empathy and rapport with the people that we support. They will also be knowledgeable about DIY/ trade skills with a strong background of experience in this area. Whilst a level 3 trade qualification would be ideal we will consider people from a variety of trade backgrounds.
Applicants will need to have an adult teaching qualification at level 3 or above, or have experience in teaching or training, with a willingness to work towards completing a teaching qualification.
This role does require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
